Why your Teeth is so important?

Your teeth vary in shape and size, and so their jobs vary depending on their position within your mouth. You use some teeth to tear your foods, and some others to chew and digest your food. Besides these primary functions, teeth ensure the shape of your face and bring you a beautiful smile.


But what can go wrong with your teeth?

Teeth needs little but regular attention. If you leave it unattended, you may have the tooth decay, that can lead you to fillings, crowns or inlays. It is better to treat tooth decay early, otherwise, the nerve of the tooth will become infected and die, and that may cause an abscess. Consequently, you may need root canal treatment.

Do you know gum disease is the largest cause of tooth loss in adults? But now you can treat Gum disease preventing the causes and keep it under control with a routine checkup, to prevent any further problems. However, if you lost your tooth, you must fill the gaps using bridges, dentures, and dental implants.

How can you keep your teeth and gums healthy?

You can easily keep your mouth clean and healthy with some easy cleaning hygiene. Follow a simple routine of brushing, flossing, and clean between the teeth and ensure good eating habits. A regular dental checkup prevents most of the dental problems.

Most of the people brush regularly, but do not care for cleaning in between, some even skip dental check ups. A few changes in your daily routine can ensure you a promising oral health.

Have you heard of plaque?

Plaque is a thin but sticky film of bacteria that forms constantly on the surface of your teeth. It reacts with food turning sugar into acid, which finds a place on your tooth enamel, attack it causing poor oral health. When this happens and continues for more than a couple of times, the enamel breaks down giving rise to cavity formation.

A regular brushing helps to remove plaque by clearing off the food debris that is left behind, which, if not cleared causes tooth decay and gum disease.

But what is Gum Disease? How do you know if you have gum disease?

Gum disease is a very common condition, where you can see your gum getting red and swollen that bleed when brushed and flossed. If you notice this, contact your dentist immediately.

Common Teeth Care Tips:

1. Brush twice daily to ensure good oral health. The best time to brush your teeth is after regular meals. Choose brush having small head and soft bristle that works gently on your teeth.

2. Regular Flossing in a slow, gentle sawing motion helps to remove left out food particles and prevent plaque formation.

3. Limit carbonated water and acidic drinks. These acidic drinks soften tissues, dissolve minerals in tooth enamel, causing holes in your teeth.

4. Limit Sugary food. If you fail to resist, brush immediately after having sugary food.

5. Avoid using your tooth for any other purpose rather chewing your food. You may notice many people use their teeth to crack nuts, open bottle caps or rip off packaging using their teeth. Try to avoid such practice as it may break your teeth.

6. See a dentist after every six months to know the current oral condition of your teeth.
